Assistant Journey Kids Village Director
Purpose Statement:
To reach and lead families into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ while providing an educational environment where every child feels safe, valued, and loved.

Ages: 4 months - Pre K-4
Operating Hours
- School Year: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday from 8:30am - 1:30pm 
- Summer (June 5 - June 29; July 10 - August 4): Tuesday/Thursday from 8:30am - 1:30pm 
Status: Part-time Salary
Reports to: Kevin Anthony
Responsibilities:
- Create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and loved. 
- Work with teachers on any specific needs of individual children. 
- Maintain networking with other childcare professionals and communicate with parents any developmental concerns regarding potential delays that may require referral to specialists. 
- Ensure all staff remain alert to signs of child abuse or neglect and follow protocol to report suspected abuse or neglect. 
- Counsel with staff and parents concerning children’s welfare. 
- Check paperwork and communicate with parents and teachers about children’s allergies. Ensure allergies and specific needs are posted in the classrooms. 
- Oversee Journey Kids Village operations 
- Advertise for student enrollment. 
- Communicate with returning and new families regarding enrollment. 
- Provide parents with Journey Kids Village handbook, including calendar and other needed information. 
- Provide all necessary student registration/enrollment forms and ensure all forms are completed and filled for each student prior to start date. 
- Process applications and place children in appropriate classes. 
- Create a yearly calendar approved by the Journey Kids Village Board. 
- Supervise day-to-day functioning of the program. 
- Help staff organize parties, programs, and any other special activities throughout the year. 
- Inventory equipment and supplies and replace as needed. 
- See that the playground is adequately supervised according to policies and procedures in the handbook. 
- Help with children in classrooms as needed. 
- Ensure that all children are cared for if a teacher isn’t present. Also, care for children after class hours when parents are late to pick up children. 
- Be present and engaged during drop-off each morning. 
- Update and edit school forms and paperwork as needed. 
- Facilitate the use of Brightwheel to ensure parents are receiving updates each school day. 
- Inform parents of any illness or injury at school in a timely manner and complete the required incident report. 
- Meet with parents upon request via telephone or in-person regarding children. 
- Facilitate staff meetings and teacher work day before the beginning of the school year. 
- Facilitate and assist with open house for parents and teachers before the beginning of the school year. 
- Assist teachers in getting classrooms ready and supplied before the beginning of the school year. 
- Establish timeframes for giving tours during Journey Kids Village operating hours. 
- Ensure compliance is maintained with Journey Church’s staff employee handbook. 
- Develop the Journey Kids Village strategy, curriculum, and budget in conjunction with the Journey Kids Village Board 
- Supervise and implement Arkansas State-approved curriculum. 
- Bring any large purchase requests following Journey Church’s purchase order policy to the Director of Operations. 
- Work with the Director of Operations to account for all financial activities keeping within the Journey Kids Village budget. 
- Assist in turning in payroll for staff as needed. 
- Maintain open communication with the Journey Kids Village Board appointed representative. 
- Arrange for fundraisers, such as individual and class pictures and sales. 
- Review with the Director of Operations monthly income and expense statements and yearly budget for Journey Kids Village Board. 
- Attend Journey Kids Village Board Meetings as needed to update the Board on all program happenings and concerns. 
- Initiate changes to the handbook as needed with the approval of the Journey Kids Village Board. 
- Maintain required certifications according to Arkansas State Licensure, including but not limited to 
- Maintain state standards in all aspects of the program, including staff and facility 
- Meet with fire and sanitation officials during annual inspections. 
- Comply with and maintain proper documentation of recommendations made at inspections and inform proper authorities of compliance in writing. 
- Hold regular emergency drills as directed by state licensure. 
- Complete required professional development hours annually. 
- Oversee staffing of Journey Kids Village, including but not limited to 
- Recruit, hire, evaluate, and dismiss staff in conjunction with the Journey Kids Village Board. 
- Complete orientation for each new employee. 
- Maintain staff personnel files to include all information required by Arkansas State Licensure. 
- Initiate and maintain background checks on all staff alongside Journey Church’s Director of Operations. 
- Maintain staff/child ratios, assigning staff and students to classes. 
- Create and maintain an appropriate list of substitute staff. 
- Plan and facilitate staff meetings as needed, including a weekly check-in and devotional. 
- Make available and oversee professional development hours for staff annually. 
Qualifications Specific to Position:
- Education and Experience: 
- Degree in education, child development, or other related field preferred, but must meet state licensing requirements. Experience preferred. 
- Minimum 2 years experience in a ministry leadership role, preferably serving in Children’s/Family ministry 
- Other Personal Characteristics: 
- Pursue a growing relationship with Jesus Christ through regular practice of personal and interpersonal spiritual disciplines 
- Active member of Journey or another local church 
- Mature, biblical approach to conflict resolution 
- Excellent organizational and time management skills 
- Basic proficiency with Word and Excel and ability to become proficient with Brightwheel 
- Great interpersonal and communication skills - team player 
- Must be teachable and have ability to self-direct as needed 
- Willingness to learn new things and lead in new initiatives 
- Basic First Aid/CPR certifications or willingness to obtain certification
